Charley Hull and Lottie Woad remain in contention following the second round of the AIG Women’s Open at Royal Lytham and St Annes. Both players posted scores of two under par, holding carded rounds of even-par 71 amid challenging windy conditions along the Lancashire coast.

Hull, seeking her first major championship, made a notable impact by sinking a bunker shot for birdie on the 17th hole. Meanwhile, Woad began the round strongly, reaching two under par by the turn. However, she was unable to capitalize on birdie opportunities on the 11th and 12th holes, which led to a loss of momentum. Woad subsequently dropped a shot at the 14th and finished with a bogey, ending the day also at two under.

“It was a pretty good day,” Woad reflected. “Definitely tougher scoring today it seems. Just a few more sneaky pins and the wind was a little bit stronger. I just need to try and make a few more birdies.”

Both Hull and Woad trail the leader, Ryu Hae-ran of South Korea, by five strokes as the tournament progresses. Ryu’s strong performance places her at seven under par, positioning her as the frontrunner in the search for the championship title.
