Chatham Town secured a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Brentwood Town at home on Saturday, propelled by a brace from forward Kola Salami. The win moved Chatham into tenth place in the league standings.
The match remained goalless for more than half an hour, despite early pressure from Chatham. The breakthrough came in the 37th minute when Salami capitalized on a defensive error to deliver an impressive long-range strike into the top right corner, leaving Brentwood’s goalkeeper Jack Giddens with no chance.
Chatham extended their lead shortly after halftime. Within two minutes of the second half, Jack Lyons, who posed a continual threat to the Brentwood defence, maneuvered past defenders to fire a powerful shot that beat Giddens low to the ground.
The home side’s dominance continued ahead of the hour mark when Salami added a second goal. Exploiting a moment of disorganization in the Brentwood backline, he executed a deft looping finish that found the upper right corner of the net, effectively securing the three-goal advantage.
Brentwood struggled to respond as Chatham controlled possession and limited their opportunities for the remainder of the match. The result marked a significant win for Kevin Hake’s squad, demonstrating their offensive prowess and defensive discipline.
