Chatham Town secured a 1-0 victory over National League South side Slough Town in a contest held on Saturday, highlighting their ability to withstand pressure from a higher-ranked opponent. The match took place at Chatham’s home ground, where Jack Lyons scored the decisive goal in the 16th minute.

Slough Town started the game assertively, exerting physical pressure and controlling much of the early play. Kyle Brooks registered an early attempt on goal in the fifth minute, but Chatham’s goalkeeper George Hardy easily collected the shot. Despite Slough's early dominance, it was the hosts who opened the scoring when Lyons’ low drive across the face of the goal found the bottom-left corner, giving Chatham a surprising lead.

Slough struggled to maintain sustained possession as they faced a resilient Chatham defense. Another effort from the home side on the edge of the penalty area was deflected into the hands of Slough goalkeeper Stevie Bausor. The visitors increased their attacking efforts toward the end of the first half, with Jordan Thomas firing a shot wide from distance and Jaiden Drakes-Thomas curling an effort just outside the target.

The second half saw Slough Town pushing forward more assertively but failing to create clear-cut chances. Their nearest opportunity came late in the match when Jared Myers’ throw-in was controlled by Drakes-Thomas, whose subsequent shot struck the post in the 83rd minute. Chatham also threatened late on, with Luke Holness receiving a headed pass from Joe Morrison, though his cut-back was comfortably saved by Hardy.

Despite Slough's persistent efforts, Chatham’s defensive organization and timely counterattacks ensured they held on for a noteworthy victory over a side from two divisions above them.
