Chelsea have agreed to sign Italian defender Honest Ahanor from Serie A club Atalanta in a deal reportedly worth £40 million ($54 million). The 18-year-old will spend the 2026-2027 season on loan at Crystal Palace before officially joining Chelsea in 2027.

Ahanor, who joined Atalanta from Genoa in July 2025, made 35 appearances in his first season in Bergamo. His performances earned him two senior caps for the Italian national team, including a friendly appearance against Luxembourg in June. During his loan at Palace, the teenager is expected to gain Premier League experience and provide cover for defender Chadi Riad, who suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury against Everton. Upon joining Palace on loan, Ahanor expressed enthusiasm about his move, describing the club as a supportive environment for young players.

Chelsea confirmed the agreement on their official website, highlighting Ahanor's rapid rise through club and international ranks. The club emphasized the defender’s potential and the strategic nature of his loan to Crystal Palace, the UEFA Conference League winners.

In a related development, Chelsea striker Marc Guiu has completed a transfer to RB Leipzig. The 20-year-old forward signed a five-year contract with the German club for a reported £14.5 million, ending his two-year tenure at Stamford Bridge. Guiu arrived at Chelsea from Barcelona in 2024 for £5 million but found limited playing time, making 11 Premier League appearances without scoring. This move marks a fresh start for the young striker in the Bundesliga.
