Chelsea are nearing the completion of a transfer for Pep Chavarría, the 28-year-old left wingback from Rayo Vallecano, who is expected to arrive in London within the next 48 hours to finalise the move. The deal aims to secure Chavarría as the successor to Marc Cucurella, who was sold to Real Madrid this summer for £51.8 million. Negotiations saw Rayo Vallecano raise their valuation of the player, but a compromise appears close.

Chavarría has been a notable presence in La Liga since joining Rayo Vallecano from Real Zaragoza in 2022, having spent much of his early career in Spain’s lower divisions. Last season, he made 44 appearances as Rayo Vallecano reached the final of the UEFA Conference League. His acquisition would mark another signing for Chelsea under the management of Xabi Alonso, following recent additions such as Jordan Henderson, Danny Welbeck, Marco Palestra, Morgan Rogers, Maxence Lacroix, along with Emmanuel Emegha, Geovany Quenda, and Dastan Satpayev, who had pre-agreed transfers.

In other transfer developments, Ipswich Town have secured the signing of midfielder Florentino from Burnley on a five-year contract for an initial fee reportedly reaching up to £19 million. Florentino, 26, appeared in 31 Premier League matches last season. He initially joined Burnley on loan from Benfica in 2025 before the club made the move permanent in June. The midfielder's career includes two league titles with Benfica and loan spells at Monaco and Getafe.

Crystal Palace are progressing in talks to acquire 19-year-old wingback Zavier Gozo from Major League Soccer club Real Salt Lake. The American player impressed last season with six goals and five assists in 16 appearances. The proposed deal is estimated at approximately £11.1 million.
