The 26-year-old French centre-back committed to a six-year contract after Chelsea agreed a £52 million fee with Palace. Arsenal had shown preliminary interest in Lacroix before the World Cup but ultimately did not pursue the transfer further. Crystal Palace reportedly sought up to £60 million for Lacroix and were looking to at least match the £52 million fee that Brighton paid for Jan Paul van Hecke earlier this summer.

Chelsea continue to pursue left-back Pep Chavarria from Rayo Vallecano but face challenges over valuation. Chavarria, 28, has a release clause set at approximately £42.4 million, though Rayo Vallecano is reportedly open to negotiation around a £30 million price point. Chelsea’s current offer of about £21 million remains significantly below the asking price, leaving the potential deal unresolved.

Separately, Callum Hudson-Odoi remains on holiday after helping England reach the World Cup’s last 32 stage. Defender Jorrel Hato, 20, who represented the Netherlands and achieved the same World Cup progress, is already with Chelsea’s squad for pre-season.
