Chelsea are targeting Crystal Palace defender Maxence Lacroix as part of their plans to strengthen their defense during the summer transfer window. Manager Xabi Alonso is looking to bring in two new centre-backs to support first-choice defender Levi Colwill at Stamford Bridge.

Lacroix has caught the attention of Chelsea after two strong seasons with Palace. However, Palace hold a solid position in negotiations, as the French defender is under contract for another three years. At this stage, Chelsea have not initiated formal contact with either Lacroix or Crystal Palace regarding a potential transfer, and any deal is expected to require a significant investment.

In addition to Lacroix, Chelsea have expressed renewed interest in Jacobo Ramon, a central defender currently with Italian club Como. Ramon appeared in 37 matches last season under Como’s coach, Cesc Fabregas. Chelsea previously considered Ramon in January but opted to pursue another target, Jeremy Jacquet. Jacquet, however, ultimately moved to Premier League side Liverpool this summer. With Jacquet now off the table, Chelsea are prepared to revive their pursuit of Ramon as they seek to identify a suitable defensive partner for Colwill.

Colwill remains a key figure in Chelsea’s defensive plans moving forward, but the club is keen to find the right individual to complement the England international in central defense. The search for this partner remains a priority in the club’s summer transfer strategy.

Chelsea may also see departures at the backline. Como has shown interest in Trevoh Chalobah, another player valued by the club. Chalobah, a product of Chelsea’s academy, is entering the final two years of his contract, with the club holding an option for an additional season. Chelsea have indicated that they will only consider offers for the player if they meet their valuation.

Overall, Chelsea are actively assessing multiple options to bolster their defensive options ahead of the upcoming season, with Lacroix and Ramon among the leading candidates under consideration.
