Chery has expanded its presence in the UK market with the introduction of the Tiggo 7 Super Hybrid, a plug-in hybrid family SUV aimed at smaller households and couples seeking ample space and efficiency. The new model complements the existing Tiggo 7 petrol and seven-seat Tiggo 8, offering a five-seat alternative with advanced hybrid technology.
The Tiggo 7 Super Hybrid features a 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with an 18.4kWh battery, which powers a 204PS electric motor. This setup enables a combined driving range of up to 745 miles, including an electric-only range of approximately 56 miles, positioning the vehicle as a practical option for drivers curious about electric cars but not ready to commit to a fully electric model.
Two trim levels are available, with the entry-level model priced at £29,995. The higher-spec Summit trim, which costs £3,000 more at £32,995, offers additional features designed to enhance the driving experience. Both trims come with a seven-year or 100,000-mile warranty.
The Tiggo 7 Super Hybrid's performance figures include a top speed of 112 mph and acceleration from 0 to 62 mph in 8.5 seconds. It delivers impressive fuel efficiency, rated at 256.8 miles per gallon, and carbon emissions of just 19 grams per kilometre.
Design elements emphasize a sleek, sporty aesthetic with 18-inch alloy wheels, crystal LED lights, and a panoramic roof. The front fascia is dominated by a distinctive starry diamond grille, while the rear incorporates stylish taillights. Practical features include an automatic, powered tailgate and a spacious boot offering 565 litres of cargo space, expandable to 1,396 litres with the rear seats folded.
Inside, the cabin balances luxury and technology with soft synthetic leather surfaces and a dual 12.3-inch digital display setup that serves as the instrument cluster and central touchscreen. This system controls entertainment, navigation, and a comprehensive suite of safety technologies. Among its driver aids are a wide-angle rearview camera and a 540-degree surround-view camera system designed to assist with parking and manoeuvring.
Chery has incorporated various driver-assistance features and alerts, including the option to disable some notifications for a quieter driving environment. Additionally, a distinctive feature is the female voice alert that notifies drivers if their mobile phone remains on the wireless charging pad when exiting the vehicle.
Designed to offer a smooth and efficient ride across diverse driving conditions—from urban streets to highways—the Tiggo 7 Super Hybrid aims to combine comfort, technology, and eco-friendly performance at a competitive price point in the UK SUV segment.
