Immanuel Feyi-Waboso has been declared fit to play for Exeter Chiefs in tomorrow’s Premiership final against Northampton at Twickenham, providing a significant boost for the team ahead of the domestic showdown. The 23-year-old England wing had been sidelined since May 31 after fracturing his jaw during Exeter’s victory over Leicester, an injury that required surgery and initially suggested a longer absence.

Following a plate insertion in his jaw earlier this month, Feyi-Waboso has completed a full week of training and undergone thorough medical assessments. The decision on his availability was made in coordination with England’s medical staff and Exeter’s management, but ultimately rested with the player himself. Exeter director of rugby Rob Baxter emphasized that while the England team had no objections, the final call came down to Feyi-Waboso’s own assessment of his readiness. Baxter highlighted the precautionary measures taken throughout the week, including limited contact training to avoid further injury.

Feyi-Waboso’s participation is seen as an important factor for Exeter as they aim to secure their first Premiership title since 2020. The Chiefs finished ninth in the previous season and were not widely expected to reach the final, making this opportunity particularly meaningful. Baxter, who will name his squad shortly, stressed the importance of staying focused on the occasion without being overwhelmed by the atmosphere at Twickenham, especially for many players experiencing a final at this venue for the first time.

The squad will also see the return of back row Ethan Roots, who missed the semi-final win over Bath due to concussion protocols, and wing Campbell Ridl, who had a knee concern earlier but is now fit. Exeter faces a Northampton side that bookmakers have favored, but Baxter remains confident in his team’s ability to compete on both offense and defense.

“This is about fighting in all areas and not just trying to contain Northampton’s attack,” Baxter said. “We have to be proactive with our own attacking play.”

Exeter last appeared in a domestic final in 2021, narrowly losing to Harlequins after claiming a league and European double the previous year. With Feyi-Waboso fit and available, the Chiefs will aim to add another chapter to their domestic success as they prepare for tomorrow’s match and potentially look ahead to Feyi-Waboso’s involvement in England’s Test against South Africa on July 4.
