Kuwaiti authorities have intercepted a shipment containing synthetic narcotics concealed inside a child’s chair, leading to the arrest of a suspect. The seizure was made by the General Administration of Customs (GAC) in coordination with the Ministry of Interior’s Drug Control General Department (DCGD).
The package, sent from Canada, contained approximately 50 A4-sized sheets infused with a synthetic drug known locally as “Chemical.” The total weight of the seized substance was about 323 grams. The narcotics were hidden within a compartment inside the child’s chair, a method intended to bypass customs screening.
Officials discovered the shipment during a routine inspection of incoming mail at the Air Cargo Customs Department. Suspicious of the parcel, customs inspectors conducted a detailed examination, revealing the concealed narcotics.
Following the uncovering of the synthetic drug sheets, the Customs Investigation and Research Office worked closely with the DCGD. This joint effort resulted in the suspect’s detention and the formal documentation of the case. Legal proceedings are expected to follow.
In a statement released on Sunday, the GAC emphasized its dedication to preventing the smuggling of narcotics through all entry points into Kuwait. The agency also highlighted the importance of cooperation with the Ministry of Interior and related authorities in protecting national security and public safety.
