China is set to host its Global Governance Forum from October 23 to 25 in Xiongan New Area, Hebei province, aiming to promote more practical and accessible solutions for international cooperation. The event, organized by the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs, will focus on rebuilding trust and confidence within the global governance framework.
Wu Ken, president of the institute, said the forum seeks to identify specific and effective approaches that can help the international community address pressing global challenges. The gathering will bring together approximately 180 foreign participants, primarily experts, academics, and influential figures from areas such as climate change, artificial intelligence, and trade. Attendees will represent regions including the Global South, Europe, and the United States, with Chinese participants exceeding 200 in number.
This forum is part of a broader initiative launched by President Xi Jinping last year, aimed at promoting multilateralism and advocating for a reformed global governance system deemed fairer and more representative. Beijing has criticized the existing international system, arguing that the principles set forth in the United Nations Charter are not being fully respected and that the interests of developing countries are insufficiently addressed.
Through forums like this, China is seeking to advance its vision of a global governance structure that better accommodates the concerns of the Global South and responds more effectively to current international challenges. The event serves both as a platform for dialogue and a potential springboard for practical cooperation across various fields.
