China has announced a five-year plan aimed at upgrading its national supply and marketing cooperative system to enhance agricultural services and strengthen food security from 2026 to 2030. The initiative, detailed by the All China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives, identifies 18 major tasks focused on ensuring food security and promoting rural revitalization.

Key components of the plan include the construction or renovation of more than 100 national-level strategic fertilizer depots and approximately 1,000 county-level distribution centers located in major grain-producing counties by 2030. For the current year, efforts will focus on building or refurbishing around 20 national fertilizer depots and over 200 county-level facilities. These developments aim to establish a more streamlined and efficient network for distributing agricultural inputs, thereby supporting national food security.

In addition, the system plans to build or upgrade 200 agricultural service centers this year. These centers will enhance emergency services such as grain drying and storage, helping to minimize losses that occur after harvest. The supply and marketing cooperatives operate under the leadership of the Communist Party of China and play a significant role in agriculture and rural development. Serving as a critical instrument for implementing Party and government policies on agriculture, rural areas, and farming communities, these cooperatives contribute to advancing China's agricultural progress and rural revitalization efforts.
