China’s ship export sector experienced significant growth in the first nine months of 2026, with the total value rising 24.6 percent compared to the same period last year. According to customs data, the export value of vessels reached approximately 358.92 billion yuan (around $53.75 billion) during this period.
The volume of exported ships amounted to 5,083 vessels, reflecting robust demand in international markets. The surge was notably driven by liquid cargo carriers, including oil tankers and gas transport vessels. These segments saw export values increase sharply by 140.1 percent year-on-year, indicating heightened global demand for energy-related shipping capacity.
The growth in this sector underscores China’s continued prominence as a major player in global shipbuilding and maritime trade. Rising export figures suggest that Chinese shipyards have been successful in securing orders for specialized vessels amid shifting global trade dynamics and increased energy transportation needs.
