China’s Yin Ruoning secured her sixth career LPGA Tour victory on Sunday, ending a near two-year winless streak with a two-shot triumph at the FM Championship held at TPC Boston in Norton, Massachusetts. The 23-year-old, who won the 2023 Women’s PGA Championship, closed with a two-under 70 to finish at 14-under par, overcoming a challenging round featuring five birdies and three bogeys.

Yin’s decisive moment came on the par-five 18th hole where she sunk a crucial birdie putt to seal her first LPGA title since 2024. Reflecting on her achievement, she expressed relief and satisfaction, saying, “I was really emotional when I was on the 18th green and just felt like all the hard work paid off.”

The competition remained intense as Yin closely monitored her playing partners, South Koreans Kim Hyo-joo and Kim Sei-young, during the closing holes. Kim Hyo-joo finished with a one-under 71 to place second at 12-under, while Kim Sei-young carded a one-over 73 to finish tied for fourth alongside Rose Zhange, both one stroke behind the American Allisen Corpuz, who ended at 11-under.

Yin described the final stretch as particularly tense, noting, “I felt like that was the longest 18th hole I’ve ever played – because they’re just so good and they don’t really make mistakes.”

Prior to this victory, Yin had faced a series of near-misses throughout the past season and the current campaign, at times doubting whether she could secure another win on the LPGA Tour. “I’ve had quite a few times where I was really close but just keep missing by one or two,” she said. “I was always harsh on myself...I doubted if I can win on this tour again.”

She also spoke about her personal growth, explaining that last year had been difficult, but she had learned valuable lessons. “The biggest thing I learn is that life comes from you, not at you. And that good things take time and just be patient about it,” Yin added.
