Trainer Chris Gordon is optimistic about the prospects of his five-year-old hurdler, Cosmic Connection, as the horse is set to compete in the Grade 2 Persian War Novices’ Hurdle at Chepstow. Scheduled for this afternoon at 3:43 p.m., the race marks an important step in the horse’s racing career following a strong finish to last season.

Cosmic Connection has demonstrated promising form, securing three wins in four starts. His most notable recent victory came in the EBF Novices’ Handicap Final at Sandown in late April, a performance that helped elevate his profile. Having primarily raced in handicaps previously, the horse is now targeting higher-class novice hurdles this winter.

Gordon, who is based in Winchester, expressed confidence in the horse’s development and readiness for this season’s challenges. He highlighted that Cosmic Connection had two runs at Chepstow prior to the Sandown contest, showing steady improvement with each outing.

“We got him quite late last year but he is progressive,” Gordon said. “He looks pretty smart. His form is solid and I’m looking forward to the Persian War.”

The trainer’s comments suggest that he views Cosmic Connection as a potential contender among novice hurdlers this season, with the Persian War Novices’ Hurdle offering an early test of the horse’s capabilities at a higher level of competition.
