KUWAIT CITY — The Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) and the team responsible for establishing the National Center for Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management (AMAN) convened on June 24 to assess and enhance their preparedness for emergency situations, focusing particularly on communications and cybersecurity infrastructure.

The meeting aimed to review existing procedures and frameworks designed to ensure the continuity and resilience of telecommunications and information technology services during crises. CITRA outlined its approved plans and risk management approaches, including business continuity and disaster recovery strategies, to safeguard critical digital services and infrastructure under varying emergency scenarios.

Officials discussed mechanisms for strengthening coordination among government entities, improving information sharing, and leveraging modern technologies to support national efforts in emergency response and recovery. These initiatives seek to bolster Kuwait’s overall emergency preparedness and enhance its capacity to manage risks across multiple sectors.

Senior representatives from various government agencies participated in the discussions, among them Bader Al-Kandari, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Subscriber Services at the Ministry of Communications; Khaled Al-Dayeen, Assistant Undersecretary at the Ministry of Oil; Abeer Al-Awadhi, Director General of the National Cybersecurity Center; and officials from the Central Agency for Information Technology.

This coordination meeting is part of a broader series of engagements aimed at fostering integration and collaboration among relevant parties involved in national emergency, crisis, and disaster management. By reviewing and updating their strategies, AMAN and CITRA aim to enhance Kuwait’s resilience against technical incidents, cyber threats, and other emergencies affecting communication systems and technological infrastructure.
