Bianna Golodryga, a senior global affairs analyst and longtime international anchor at CNN, announced her departure from the network on Thursday. Golodryga, who co-anchored the CNN International program “One World with Zain Asher,” is scheduled to make her final on-air appearance Friday, according to a CNN spokesperson.

After nearly a decade with CNN, Golodryga cited an “opportunity that I couldn’t pass up” as the reason for her decision to leave. In her announcement on the social media platform X, she expressed gratitude for her experiences and colleagues at CNN, adding that she plans to share more details about her next steps soon.

Golodryga’s exit follows closely on the heels of another significant departure in CNN’s international division. Christiane Amanpour, the network’s prominent international journalist, revealed plans to leave CNN next June. These developments come amid ongoing uncertainty within CNN as the network integrates with Skydance, which acquired CNN as part of a $111 billion merger with Warner Bros. Discovery.

Currently, CNN and Skydance’s CBS News operations continue to function independently under their existing leadership teams. However, industry insiders anticipate consolidation efforts, particularly targeting international bureaus. There is also reported unease among CNN staff regarding the potential influence of CBS News editor in chief Bari Weiss in the merged news operations. Weiss, who took control of CBS News after Paramount acquired her digital news outlet, the Free Press, has been a controversial figure, especially after making significant staffing changes at “CBS Evening News” and “60 Minutes.” Some correspondents at “60 Minutes” accused Weiss of encouraging the incorporation of right-wing viewpoints into their reporting, leading to departures from the program.

Golodryga, 48, joined CNN as a contributor in 2017 and became a full-time anchor two years later. Before CNN, she was a co-host of “CBS This Morning,” an anchor for Yahoo! Finance, and a correspondent and weekend co-anchor for ABC News’ “Good Morning America.” Born in the Soviet Union, she immigrated to the United States as a refugee in 1980. Golodryga is also the co-author of the young adult novel “Don’t Feed the Lion,” which addresses the topic of antisemitism.
