Coleen Nolan, the Loose Women panellist and former member of the Nolan Sisters, has opened up about her personal life, career frustrations, and ongoing support for colleagues in an appearance at her one-woman show, This Is Me, held at Bush Hall in west London.

Despite her longstanding television presence—having won Celebrity Big Brother in 2017 and finishing fourth on Dancing on Ice in 2009—Nolan revealed she has never been invited to participate in the popular dance competition Strictly Come Dancing. She expressed disappointment that, while other Loose Women panellists have been asked, she has not received an invitation. Nolan insisted that she has no issues with judge Craig Revel Horwood, whom she said she likes, but suggested someone behind the scenes may hold a grudge against her.

Nolan also shared that her recent return to romance has had a positive effect on her physically, specifically improving her previously problematic hips. Identifying her new partner only as Ryan, she said this relationship has been beneficial. Reflecting on her romantic past, Nolan, who has been married twice—to Shane Richie and Ray Fensome—humorously ranked the three men in a snog, marry, avoid scenario: she would avoid Richie and Fensome, though she emphasized they remain good friends, and would snog and marry Ryan.

Earlier this year, Nolan appeared on Channel 4’s Celebs Go Dating but left the program single, describing moments of rejection as “mortifying” and damaging to her ego. She expressed optimism about her current relationship, stating that she believes Ryan will be “the best one.”

As a Loose Women stalwart of 26 years, Nolan voiced concerns about recent budget cuts at ITV that have impacted the show’s production. Notably, the program’s new 30-week format has eliminated the live studio audience, a change Nolan said she “hates” due to the lack of immediate reaction from viewers. Additionally, she noted that the studio space has been reduced and must now be shared among three morning shows, with cameras rotating between programs. Despite these challenges, Nolan expressed gratitude for retaining her role.

Nolan also reflected on an unusual pattern she noticed regarding guests who appeared on Loose Women. She mentioned famous names such as Goldie Hawn, Whoopi Goldberg, Will Smith, and Michael Douglas, noting that several guests, primarily from an older generation, have passed away following their appearances. This has led her to sometimes wonder if the show may be “cursed.”

Addressing reports of tensions among the Loose Women panel, Nolan firmly dismissed notions of off-screen conflict, calling the group her “second family” and stating that, regardless of the show's future, the relationships formed there will endure.

She extended support to her colleague Ruth Langsford, who experienced a surprising split from her husband Eamonn Holmes in May 2024 after 14 years of marriage. Nolan praised Langsford’s dignity and composure throughout a difficult personal period.

Nolan also recalled early warnings about the television industry’s nature, quoting a director’s advice that “there are no friends in television, only opportunities.” She acknowledged, however, that she considers many industry relationships to have blossomed into genuine friendships.

Highlighting a career milestone, Nolan spoke proudly of the 2018 ITV special The Real Full Monty: Ladies’ Night, a cancer awareness campaign that won an Emmy and left a significant impact on audiences, with many viewers encouraged to undertake health checks. She attributed the show’s end to budget constraints and described it as “her pride and joy.”

Though her career remains important, Nolan emphasized that family remains her foremost priority. She is a mother to three adult children—Shane Jr, Jake, and Ciara—and a grandmother of four. She described her family as her “whole life” and “reason for living,” stating she would be lost without them.
