Colonial Williamsburg is offering couples a distinctive opportunity to celebrate their weddings as part of the nation’s 250th anniversary commemorations. The living history museum, known for its immersive colonial-era reenactments and historic architecture, is positioning itself as a unique venue for couples seeking an event steeped in American heritage.

Located in the heart of Williamsburg, Virginia, the site provides several ceremony and reception options, including the Palace Gardens within the historic district and the stately Regency Room at the Williamsburg Inn. These venues can accommodate gatherings ranging from 200 to 600 guests.

Laura Gray, the museum’s director of catering and conference services, emphasized the personalized, historically immersive nature of weddings at Colonial Williamsburg. She explained that couples can expect an experience that blends meaningful historical moments with a modern celebration. For instance, guests may enjoy a Champagne toast delivered in the style of Thomas Jefferson, while the traditional sound of Fifes and Drums can signal the transition from cocktail hour to reception.

In addition to the setting, some couples choose to host dinners in spaces once frequented by figures such as George Washington, adding an extra layer of historical significance to their celebrations.

To mark the 250th anniversary, Colonial Williamsburg has introduced a special “Founding Love” wedding package. This offering includes a two-night stay in a historic colonial-era home, an arrival by horse-drawn carriage for the couple, and a complimentary Champagne toast for up to 50 guests. The package also features a personalized keepsake engraved with the wedding date and the official CW250 seal. Notably, it includes a complimentary anniversary stay and dinner for two each year for the duration of the couple’s marriage.

This initiative aligns with Colonial Williamsburg's broader effort to engage visitors with the nation’s revolutionary history through immersive experiences that go beyond traditional tourism.
