Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels is set to travel with the team to London on Tuesday night and participate in practice ahead of their upcoming game against the Indianapolis Colts, head coach Dan Quinn confirmed. Daniels sustained a second dislocation of his left elbow during the Week 2 loss to the Dallas Cowboys but could potentially return to action just two weeks after the injury.

Following comprehensive medical evaluations including X-rays, an MRI, and specialist consultations, it was determined that Daniels did not suffer any fractures or significant ligament damage. As a result, the team decided against surgery and described his recovery timeline as week-to-week. By opting not to place Daniels on injured reserve, the Commanders indicated a possibility of a shorter absence.

Quinn refrained from specifying the exact timing of Daniels’s return to practice but stated the quarterback would “definitely be participating in some fashion” once the team arrives in London. “Once we get [to London], that’ll give us a little more indication of where we’re at and how we can go into that space,” Quinn said. “Just the fact that we’re working back into that space gives me optimism.”

In Daniels’s absence, veteran quarterback Marcus Mariota started and helped lead Washington to a 33-31 victory over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday at Lumen Field. Additionally, tight end Chig Okonkwo, who has been sidelined with a hamstring injury, and linebacker Frankie Luvu, recovering from a groin issue, will both join the team in London and take part in practice.

In a related injury update, receiver Jahan Dotson underwent season-ending surgery following a neck fracture, removing him from the Commanders’ roster for the remainder of the season. The team continues to adjust as it prepares for its next matchup overseas against the Colts.
