Commercial Bank and the Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar (VCUarts Qatar) have renewed their partnership to advance leadership development through creative learning. The latest session, titled “Leadership through Art,” was held at Commercial Bank Plaza as part of the Barzan Leadership programme, continuing an initiative established during last year’s collaboration.
The programme aims to foster leadership skills by engaging participants in experiential and art-based learning methods designed to enhance critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities. Organizers highlighted that the session also provided a platform for cultural exchange, innovation, and professional growth.
Nasser Abdulla al-Harmi, executive general manager and chief human resources officer at Commercial Bank, emphasized the organisation’s commitment to investing in its workforce. He remarked that the goal is to develop leaders who exhibit not just formal titles but also a leadership mindset. Lejla Niksic, director of Strategic Engagement at VCUarts Qatar, underscored the value of integrating creativity into leadership training. She pointed out that VCUarts Qatar's Continuing Education Programme uses art and design as tools to equip participants with adaptive problem-solving techniques, critical thinking, and collaborative skills. She further linked the initiative to Qatar National Vision 2030, highlighting its alignment with the country’s focus on human development and innovation.
