Two UK pension schemes have announced plans to wind up their operations, issuing public notices to locate former members and beneficiaries entitled to benefits.
The Walker Group Employee Benefit Scheme, administered by The Walker Group Employee Benefit Scheme Trustee Limited, is formally winding up the scheme with a target completion date set for 2028. The scheme covers employees and former employees of several companies, including Tenneco-Walker (UK) Limited, Futaba-Tenneco UK Limited, Futaba Manufacturing UK Limited, Linford Engines Company Limited, Walker UK Limited, Harmo Industries Limited, Pit-Stop Auto Services Limited, and Gillet Exhausts. The Trustee has urged individuals who believe they are or were members of the scheme—or dependents such as widows, widowers, or children—to contact them if they have not yet received any correspondence regarding their potential benefits.
Claimants are requested to provide comprehensive information, including their full name, address, date of birth, National Insurance number, employment details, and any information related to their entitlements. The Trustee has emphasized that those who do not respond by December 27, 2026, risk having their claims excluded from the wind-up process, as the Trustee will only consider claims known to them. Individuals already receiving pensions from the scheme or those who have recently been contacted by the Trustee are not required to take further action.
Separately, the Civil Service Motoring Association Ltd Pension Scheme has similarly announced its pending wind-up, with The Law Debenture Pension Trust Corporation P.L.C. serving as the Trustee responsible for distributing the scheme’s assets. The Trustee is seeking former members, beneficiaries, creditors, or any individuals claiming interests in the scheme’s assets who have not previously been contacted. These individuals are advised to submit claims detailing their personal information, dates of employment, and any relevant documentation within two months from the date of the notice.
After this two-month period, the Trustee will proceed to finalize the distribution of assets, disclaiming any liability to claimants who fail to come forward. Beneficiaries currently receiving pensions or those who have been in recent communication with the Trustee need not respond.
Both Trustees underscore the importance of timely contact to ensure that individual entitlements are recognized and properly accounted for in the wind-up process. The notices mark significant steps in closing these longstanding pension schemes and securing benefits for eligible members and beneficiaries.
