Martin Compston, known for his role as Detective Sergeant Steve Arnott in the BBC crime drama "Line of Duty," has described the upcoming seventh series as “incredible” and indicated that it will bring long-running storylines to a conclusion. The Scottish actor, who has portrayed Arnott since the show’s debut in 2012, spoke about the new season during an appearance on ITV’s "This Morning" program.

Compston highlighted the ambitious scope of the latest installment, which is scheduled to air next year, noting that filming proved particularly challenging. “It was genuinely the hardest one we’ve had to shoot,” he said, pointing to the production’s increased demands, including longer episodes, more extensive interview scenes, and numerous action sequences.

Co-starring alongside Compston are Vicky McClure and Adrian Dunbar, who reprise their roles in Jed Mercurio’s acclaimed series. Compston remarked on the returning cast’s shared determination, explaining that rather than becoming complacent after six seasons, the team aimed to deliver a powerful finale.

He described the new series as a culmination of the narrative threads woven throughout the show’s run. “I think this is the end of the story arc that’s been building since series one. Everything will come to a head in this one,” Compston said, emphasizing the momentous nature of the season’s events.
