A recent study involving Curtin University has found that approximately half of Australian adults who sustain a concussion continue to experience symptoms for up to a year after their injury. The research highlights that common lingering effects include fatigue, headaches, cognitive slowing, and difficulties with concentration.

The findings indicate that many individuals resume work between three and twelve months following a concussion while still symptomatic. This ongoing impairment can result in reduced workplace productivity and an elevated risk of sustaining further injuries. The study underscores the importance of recognizing the prolonged nature of concussion recovery and the need for appropriate management to mitigate long-term impacts on health and occupational performance.
