ConnectEd, a global network dedicated to Jewish education, has launched an English-speaking community aimed at expanding its reach to anglophone educators worldwide. The initiative, introduced by the Koret Center for Jewish Civilization—a collaboration between ANU – Museum of the Jewish People and Tel Aviv University—features a range of online programming including webinars, peer learning groups, and collaborative projects.
Since its establishment less than a year ago, ConnectEd has attracted over 900 educators and professionals from around the globe. Originally designed for Hebrew-speaking educators, the platform draws on expertise from Tel Aviv University and educational resources provided by ANU. The new English-speaking community builds on this foundation with plans to introduce additional language communities in the future.
Oded Revivi, CEO of ANU, emphasized the central role of Jewish educators in fostering a strong sense of Jewish identity and belonging. Naama Klar, director of ANU’s Koret International School for Jewish Peoplehood, noted that the network’s swift growth reflects an urgent need among educators to address complex questions about Jewish identity, especially in the wake of the October 7 attacks. She highlighted the importance of engaging these issues collaboratively, across the global Jewish community.
The English-speaking community was inaugurated with a webinar featuring author and scholar Dara Horn. Horn, known for her works including *The Final Solution to the Jewish Question: A Love Story for the Living* and *People Love Dead Jews*, is also the founder of the Tell Institute. In her presentation, titled "How to Bring the Story of the Jewish People to Our Students and Communities," Horn encouraged participants to confront contemporary discourse with both curiosity and courage. She addressed the challenge of antisemitism, describing it as a fundamentally false narrative used by individuals or groups seeking to gain or maintain power.
The ConnectEd platform continues to offer professional development and community-building opportunities for Jewish educators globally. Additional information is available at koretcenter.org.
