Matlock Town ended Consett’s unbeaten home league run in a high-scoring match that featured ten goals in total. The contest saw numerous lead changes and dramatic swings before Matlock secured a late victory.

Consett took an early lead in the 15th minute when Lucas Lowery found the net. However, Matlock responded swiftly, with Sam Giles equalizing just two minutes later. Giles then put the visitors ahead with his second goal, before Ethan Kachosa extended Matlock’s lead with a header three minutes before halftime. The visitors further increased their advantage right at the break when Jed Abbey scored, making it 4-1.

Consett fought back in the second half, with Donny Holdsworth volleying home to reduce the deficit before adding a second goal in the 71st minute. Lowery then scored again 12 minutes later to level the score at 4-4 and reignite hopes of a comeback for the home side.

However, Matlock’s experienced forward Conor Washington quelled Consett’s momentum by scoring twice within a three-minute span late in the match. His goals proved decisive, sealing a comeback from Consett and securing the win for the visitors.
