A two-day forum focused on consumer protection concluded in Nizwa, Oman, with a key recommendation to establish an initiative called “Ambassadors of Consumer Protection Culture.” The event, organized by the Consumer Protection Department in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, was held at the Nizwa Cultural Center under the patronage of Shaikh Hilal bin Said al Hajri, Governor of Al Dakhiliyah.
The forum, titled “In the Eyes of Youth,” aimed to enhance young people's understanding of their rights and responsibilities as consumers. It also sought to raise awareness about safe shopping practices and e-commerce, while encouraging youth participation in developing solutions to consumer protection challenges.
Throughout the event, participants engaged in a hackathon designed to generate innovative ideas and discuss various consumer-related issues. The forum emphasized the importance of connecting proposed solutions to societal needs and aligning them with service development requirements in the consumer protection sector.
At the closing ceremony, organizers highlighted the pivotal role of youth in promoting consumer rights and fostering a culture of protection. The recommended “Ambassadors of Consumer Protection Culture” initiative is intended to mobilize young individuals to champion consumer awareness and contribute to the advancement of protective measures within their communities.
