The group’s recent survey, which included responses from 3,600 individuals who rented vehicles within the past two years, highlights issues such as concealed insurance fees and additional charges targeting drivers over the age of 70.

Among the companies assessed, Spain-based rental firm Goldcar received the lowest rating. The consumer organization expressed dissatisfaction with the reported customer experiences, which suggest that some renters encounter “hidden” surcharges that drive up the final rental price beyond the initial estimate.

The findings underscore ongoing difficulties consumers face when navigating car hire agreements, often encountering unexpected insurance requirements or extra fees that are not fully disclosed at the outset of the booking process.
