A Pattaya police officer has been charged with murder following a fatal shooting outside a cannabis shop on Walking Street. The incident took place early Sunday morning after an off-duty drinking session reportedly escalated into violence, according to Pol Col Anek Sarathongyoo, superintendent of Pattaya City Police.

Authorities identified the suspect as Pol Sub Lt Jirasak Srikkatthaman, 54, who serves as a deputy inspector in the investigative division at Pattaya City police station. CCTV footage from the scene captured an argument that intensified, culminating in the victim, a cannabis shop owner, attempting to intervene and subsequently being shot.

Following the shooting, Jirasak was immediately apprehended by police. He faces charges of murder and multiple violations under the Firearms Act, including the illegal discharge of a weapon in a public area and carrying a firearm without lawful authorization.

Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances that led to the altercation, including the role of alcohol and the events preceding the confrontation. The case has drawn attention due to the suspect’s law enforcement position, prompting calls for transparency in the investigation.
