Beau Lamarre-Condon, a former police officer, is on trial in the NSW Supreme Court accused of the February 2024 murders of Jesse Baird, 26, and Luke Davies, 29, at Baird’s home in Paddington, Sydney. The prosecution alleges that Lamarre-Condon fatally shot the two men with his police service weapon and then attempted to conceal the bodies using surfboard bags.
New evidence presented during the trial includes extensive CCTV footage and other exhibits, which the prosecution says reveal the accused’s calculated actions leading up to the alleged killings. In footage from February 7, Lamarre-Condon was filmed at a Decathlon store in Miranda Westfield selecting a surfboard bag, reportedly to be used later to conceal one of the victims. The footage shows him sizing the bag against a friend and paying $90 in cash. Prosecutors claim he returned to the store after the shootings to purchase a second surfboard bag for the other victim.
The court also heard that Lamarre-Condon abused his position as a police officer to spy on Jesse Baird. Among the evidence was CCTV footage recorded at a Paddington pub showing Baird with another man, allegedly obtained by Lamarre-Condon covertly during one of Baird’s dates. Prosecutors allege that Lamarre-Condon repeatedly broke into Baird’s home, sometimes at night, to search his phone and belongings. A photograph was shown of a bobby pin placed in Baird’s door lock six months before the killings, which the prosecution contends was left by Lamarre-Condon during a break-in to make the entry appear amateur.
Additional digital evidence includes social media posts. Lamarre-Condon reportedly placed men he considered romantic rivals to Baird on his Instagram "close friends" list, possibly as a form of intimidation. Screenshots shown in court featured posts by Lamarre-Condon, including images of himself with Baird and a bouquet of flowers sent while Baird was away. A former colleague testified that Lamarre-Condon admitted to manipulating these posts to mislead others about their origin.
The prosecution also outlined detailed movements of the accused in the days before the murders using thousands of hours of CCTV footage gathered from over 200 locations. This included footage of Lamarre-Condon withdrawing cash, appearing to prepare for the alleged crimes, and a referenced "staging area" in Kensington from where he is believed to have launched the attack. The evidence showed Lamarre-Condon and his mother renting a separate vehicle days prior to the killings, which was allegedly used during the incidents. His mother is not facing any charges.
During the trial, testimony revealed that Lamarre-Condon texted a friend to cancel plans on the afternoon of February 19, about three hours after the alleged shootings, citing a rolled ankle as the reason. He denied the charges, pleading not guilty to two counts of domestic violence-related murder and one count of aggravated break and enter. The trial is ongoing, with proceedings set to continue shortly.
