Costco Wholesale is broadening its same-day delivery services as part of its strategy to boost e-commerce sales across the United States. The membership-based warehouse retailer recently announced significant expansions in its partnerships with major delivery platforms Uber and DoorDash.
Earlier this week, Uber revealed plans to extend its Costco delivery coverage from 17 states to 47, enabling faster access to Costco products for a much wider customer base. Following that, DoorDash confirmed it would begin offering Costco deliveries nationwide from all U.S. locations, marking a new collaboration between the retailer and the on-demand delivery service.
These developments build on Costco’s existing arrangement with Instacart, which has long facilitated prompt home deliveries by leveraging its network of contracted drivers to handle orders from Costco stores.
By integrating multiple delivery providers, Costco aims to enhance convenience for members while expanding its reach in the competitive online grocery and retail market. The expansions reflect an ongoing shift in consumer preferences toward rapid delivery and e-commerce, especially for bulk and household items traditionally purchased in-store.
Costco has not disclosed specific sales targets tied to the expanded delivery options but views the growth of its delivery network as a key component in attracting and retaining members in an evolving retail environment. The collaboration with Uber and DoorDash is expected to increase fulfillment capacity and reduce delivery times, offering greater flexibility and choice for Costco shoppers nationwide.
