Fulham have reached agreements with Real Madrid to sign striker Gonzalo Garcia and midfielder Cesar Palacios, sources confirmed Thursday. The transfers mark a significant double acquisition for the Premier League club under new manager Alvaro Arbeloa, who previously coached both players at Real Madrid during last season.

The initial fee for the 22-year-old Gonzalo Garcia is reported to be £34.3 million. Garcia gained attention after scoring four goals in six matches at the Club World Cup last year. Meanwhile, the 21-year-old Palacios’ transfer could rise to £8.6 million, including performance-related bonuses.

As part of the deal, Fulham will acquire 70 percent of both players’ rights, with Real Madrid retaining 30 percent ownership. In addition, Madrid maintains a sell-on clause entitling them to a share of any future transfer fees. A clause also allows Real Madrid to match any future offers made for either player.

These signings follow Fulham’s earlier summer move to finalize the permanent transfer of young forward Jonah Kusi-Asare from Bayern Munich. Arbeloa’s familiarity with Garcia and Palacios is expected to facilitate their integration into the squad as Fulham aims to strengthen its roster ahead of the upcoming season.
