The Supreme Judicial Council of Kuwait reported that the Court of Cassation adjudicated 17,434 appeals during the 2025-2026 judicial year, reflecting a 17.7 percent increase compared to the 14,816 appeals resolved in the previous judicial year. Despite this rise, the Council emphasized that the court maintained the high standards of judicial quality and efficiency expected within Kuwait’s justice system.

According to the Council’s statement, newly registered cases during the 2025-2026 judicial year totaled 9,482, showing a decrease from 13,991 newly filed cases recorded the year before. This decline in new case registrations occurred alongside the increase in appeal decisions.

The Supreme Judicial Council attributed the improvements to ongoing efforts to reduce the backlog of appeals, aligning with directives from His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. These efforts are part of a broader plan approved by the Council aimed at enhancing judicial performance and expediting case resolution.

The Council reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the judiciary's efficiency while upholding the accuracy, integrity, and quality of judicial rulings. The reported figures highlight the Court of Cassation’s focus on managing caseloads effectively as it addresses both the growing volume of appeals and efforts to streamline judicial processes.
