KUWAIT CITY — The Court of Appeals overturned a previous ruling that had dismissed a financial claim, ordering a citizen to repay KD20,000 along with associated legal costs. The decision was issued on June 27, following an appeal against the lower court's judgment.
The higher court’s ruling was based on evidence presented through WhatsApp messages, which established that the funds transferred to the citizen were formalized as a loan. These messages demonstrated that the claimant had deposited the sum into the citizen’s bank account specifically as a loaned amount.
In light of this evidence, the Court of Appeals accepted the claimant’s request to enforce repayment of the loan. The citizen is now legally obligated to return the KD20,000 and cover the related legal expenses incurred during the case.
