Coventry City winger Ephron Mason-Clark has acknowledged the challenges his team faces adapting to the Premier League after a heavy 5-0 home defeat to Brighton. The newly promoted Sky Blues have struggled to find form in their debut top-flight season, losing all four of their opening matches and failing to score a goal.

Last season, Coventry secured promotion by boasting the best defensive record in the Championship and scoring an impressive 97 goals. However, the transition to the Premier League has proven difficult, with the team conceding 10 goals in just four games—only Crystal Palace has a worse defensive record so far.

Speaking after the latest defeat, Mason-Clark emphasized the gulf in quality at this level and the need for the squad to quickly adjust. He stressed the importance of unity and resilience, saying the team must "stick together" and "figure it out" as the season progresses. Mason-Clark noted that while Coventry has created chances, the players have struggled to convert them against stronger opposition.

He also highlighted that the scoring challenges faced so far are a reflection of the tougher defensive demands in the Premier League compared to the Championship. “Those opportunities don’t come as often as they did before,” Mason-Clark remarked, referring to last season’s prolific attack.

Despite the difficult start, Mason-Clark remains focused on the longer-term challenge and the need for the team to respond as the campaign continues under manager Frank Lampard.
