Starting October 12, Covid-19 vaccines will be incorporated into two national immunisation schedules, the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Communicable Diseases Agency (CDA) announced on October 7. The move aims to maintain vaccine accessibility and affordability amid ongoing circulation of the virus.
Under the updated guidelines, three main groups are recommended to receive the vaccine: individuals aged 60 and above, medically vulnerable persons aged six months and older, and residents of aged care facilities. Additionally, healthcare workers and those living or working closely with medically vulnerable people are encouraged to get vaccinated to reduce transmission risk.
The vaccine will be included in both the National Childhood Immunisation Schedule, which applies from birth to 17 years of age, as well as the National Adult Immunisation Schedule, covering those aged 18 and older. This integration reflects the recognition that Covid-19 remains a public health concern, particularly for older adults and people with underlying health conditions.
Covid-19 vaccination was initially introduced under the National Vaccination Programme in 2020 in response to the pandemic and has been offered free of charge to Singapore citizens, permanent residents, long-term pass holders, and certain other pass holders at participating clinics, polyclinics, and mobile vaccination sites. This arrangement will continue, subject to ongoing review.
For those receiving the vaccine for the first time, the recommended regimen is two doses administered eight weeks apart for children aged six months to four years, while individuals aged five and above require a single dose. People aged six months and older who have completed previous vaccinations are advised to receive an additional dose approximately one year (and at least five months) after their last dose.
Covid-19 vaccines will not be eligible for claims under MediSave 500 or MediSave 700 schemes, nor under the MediSave Chronic and Preventive Care scheme set to commence on January 1, 2027, as the vaccination remains fully subsidised for selected groups at this time.
From October 12 onward, updated Covid-19 vaccines will be accessible at over 600 general practitioner clinics, all polyclinics, and various mobile vaccination sites nationwide. Appointments at GP clinics can be booked through https://vaccine.gov.sg/covid, with patients advised to confirm vaccine availability directly with the clinic. Polyclinic appointments are available via HealthHub.
Individuals enrolled in the Healthier SG programme are encouraged to receive their Covid-19 vaccinations at their designated clinic, provided the vaccine is offered there. For the latest schedules of mobile vaccination teams, residents can check https://go.gov.sg/mvt-s.
