Emergency services responded early Thursday morning to a serious crash in West Auckland that left two women injured. The incident occurred around 4:40 a.m. at the intersection of Te Atatū Road and Gloria Avenues in the Te Atatū Peninsula area.
According to Fire and Emergency New Zealand, the vehicle struck a tree and several election boards before coming to a stop. Two occupants became trapped inside the car and were subsequently rescued by firefighters. Hato Hone St John dispatched two ambulances, two rapid response vehicles, and an operations manager to the scene.
Both individuals were transported to Auckland City Hospital with serious injuries. A witness reported that the road was blocked at the intersection following the crash. Firefighters were seen assisting one woman onto a stretcher as police and medical personnel arrived.
Authorities have not released further details regarding the cause of the accident or the current condition of the injured parties. Investigations are ongoing.
