Cray Valley and Margate played out a goalless draw in a tightly contested match on Saturday, despite Margate being reduced to 10 men late in the game. The dismissal of Margate’s Gibu Nije in the 77th minute for two bookings gave Cray Valley a numerical advantage, but the home side were unable to capitalize.

The first half was largely uneventful, with both teams adopting cautious approaches and few clear scoring opportunities. The only notable chance came from Cray Valley winger Osaretin Otote, whose effort was well saved by Margate goalkeeper Harry Seaden.

After the interval, Cray Valley pushed forward more aggressively. Veteran striker Chris Dickson emerged as a key threat, coming close to breaking the deadlock around the 60-minute mark. His shot, which deflected off Margate defender Finn O’Mara, lobbed over Seaden but struck the crossbar. Dickson continued to press and had a header saved in added time, but was unable to find the net.

Margate’s defense remained organized despite being a man down for the final 13 minutes, ensuring the game finished without a goal. The draw leaves Cray Valley with points dropped at home, while Margate secured a valuable result away from home even under challenging circumstances.
