A cricket team from Easton Cuttlefish Cricket Club plans to run a marathon in full cricket gear to raise funds for a local hospital charity. The event is scheduled for Monday and involves roughly 40 team members participating in a relay to collectively cover the distance equivalent to 2,307 cricket runs.

The fundraising effort supports Bristol Royal Hospital for Children and its associated charity, Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal. The initiative is inspired by the case of two-year-old Mimi Jefcutt, who has been undergoing extensive medical tests and treatments for a rare genetic condition over the past year. Mimi depends on a permanent feeding tube as part of her care.

Alex Jefcutt, 34, from Bristol and Mimi’s father, is among the participants joining the team for the marathon relay. The challenge aims to raise awareness and financial support for the hospital, which continues to provide specialized care for children with complex medical needs.
