KUWAIT CITY — Kuwaiti authorities have detained three individuals in connection with the illegal sale of subsidized rationed goods, officials announced on October 3. The suspects include a Bedoun resident and two Egyptian nationals involved in manipulating the distribution of subsidized supplies in Waha.

The arrests were carried out by the Criminal Security Sector's Jahra Investigation Department, specifically through the Saad Abdullah Investigation Office, following a targeted operation aimed at curbing the misuse and illicit resale of state-subsidized products. The Ministry of Interior stated that a tip-off revealed one suspect possessed subsidized rationed goods, despite being ineligible for the government subsidy program.

Authorities apprehended the first suspect at his warehouse in Waha, where they discovered significant quantities of rationed goods intended for beneficiaries. Upon interrogation, the individual admitted to purchasing the subsidized products with cash from two employees within the local ration distribution branch, alleging ongoing transactions for about two years.

Subsequent investigations identified the two additional suspects as the manager of the ration distribution branch and the warehouse supervisor. Both were arrested during a coordinated ambush operation. Each confessed to deliberately tampering with the weights of rationed goods allocated to eligible beneficiaries and diverting shorted quantities for resale through the first suspect.

Surveillance footage obtained from the ration distribution facility substantiated the suspects' admissions, confirming the fraudulent reduction of product weights during distribution. Legal proceedings have been initiated against all three individuals as authorities continue efforts to protect the integrity of the subsidized goods program and prevent further violations.
