Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding an incident at Johnsons of Old Hurst zoo in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, where a three-year-old boy suffered serious injuries after being thrown into a crocodile enclosure on June 18. The child required five operations following the attack and remains in need of two additional surgeries, according to his family.

A 30-year-old man, who is reportedly a disabled individual, was arrested in connection with the event but was later released on bail until September 18 after being deemed unfit for questioning. Reports indicate that immediately following the incident, the man was taken away from the scene in a vehicle by his carers, who are now under investigation.

Norfolk County Council and Cambridgeshire Police have launched inquiries into the conduct of the two carers responsible for the man at the time of the attack. There are concerns about possible neglect or abuse, and it has been noted that although the man resides in Norfolk, his care is neither provided nor funded by the local authority.

Investigators continue to examine the circumstances leading to the boy’s injuries and the role played by those caring for the suspected attacker. No further details have been disclosed regarding the motives behind the incident or the current condition of the individual taken into custody. The case remains under active review by both safeguarding and law enforcement agencies.
