Police and health and safety authorities have launched an investigation following the death of a 21-year-old worker who was reportedly crushed in an industrial accident last month. Steven Dougall, from Falkirk, was taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert after the incident on July 21 but died shortly after arrival, according to Police Scotland.

The incident occurred at a yard within Dollar Industrial Estate in Falkirk, operated by Horizon Reinforcing & Crane Hire Co Ltd, the family-owned business where Dougall was employed. A police spokeswoman confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious, but inquiries remain ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the accident. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is assisting Police Scotland in the investigation.

Emergency services responded promptly to the scene, and Dougall’s family has been informed of his passing. A spokesperson for the HSE confirmed their awareness of the case and cooperation with law enforcement officials. The family of the deceased has requested privacy as they grieve their loss.

Local tributes have emerged on social media, reflecting the impact of Dougall’s death on the community. A balloon-release memorial service was held at Dollar Park to honor his memory. Additionally, Pantry FC organized a memorial football match celebrating his life and passion for the sport. An online obituary described the Falkirk community as mourning the loss of a beloved son, grandson, cousin, and friend.
