Crystal Palace manager Pierre Sage has affirmed that the club’s supporters continue to hold striker Ismaila Sarr in high regard despite some boos during the forward’s recent return to the pitch. Sarr, a key player for the Eagles, had been keen to transfer to Liverpool over the summer. However, Liverpool’s £50 million bid for the Senegalese attacker was rejected, leaving him at Selhurst Park.

Sage acknowledged the mixed reaction from fans, explaining that the disappointment stemmed from expectations that Sarr would leave the club during the transfer window. "It’s normal (the boos) because everybody thought he would leave," he said. The manager emphasized the importance of focusing on Sarr’s contributions moving forward, urging supporters to appreciate his performance and goals.

The forward has also been recovering from a lengthy injury, and Sage highlighted the challenges associated with his return. "It’s always difficult when you come back from a long injury like this but the most important thing for us is to put him on the pitch," he said. The manager expressed confidence that with time and playing opportunities, Sarr would continue to improve and positively impact the team.

Despite the uncertainty and speculation surrounding his future earlier in the season, Sage insisted the fans’ affection for Sarr remains strong. "I know the fans love him and I think he deserves to be loved," the manager added, reinforcing the club’s support for the player as he regains fitness and form.
