A new convening committee for the Kandughar Forum, a Cumilla-based non-political humanitarian organization, was established during a meeting held on Saturday evening at Cumilla restaurant.
The committee aims to guide the forum's efforts in advancing education, culture, and social development within the community. The organization emphasizes its commitment to societal betterment through various initiatives.
Muhammad Al Mamun, Principal Officer at Rupali Bank PLC’s Rajganj Corporate Branch in Cumilla, was appointed as convener. Joint conveners include Gazi Mohammad Abu Musa, a businessman at Cumilla New Market; Mohibul Alam, Senior Manager and Branch In-charge of Pragati Life Insurance’s Cumilla branch; and Md. Jahirul Haque Rasel, a journalist serving as Cumilla District Correspondent for The Daily Asian Age.
The committee also named Alhaj Md. Abu Kawsar Mia, a businessman, as member secretary; Nazmul Alam, a student at Cumilla Victoria Government College, as treasurer; Mohsin Ansari, General Manager of Akij Takaful Life Insurance PLC’s Cumilla branch, as organizing secretary; Saidul Bashar Nishat, a student, as publicity secretary; and Israt Jahan Promi, an advocate at Cumilla Judge Court, as publication secretary.
The meeting was presided over by Jiban Krishna Bhadra, a former teacher at Cumilla Zilla School, and moderated by Md. Kabir Ahmed, Manager at the Employment Bank, Feni District branch.
Speakers highlighted the forum’s mission to foster community improvement without political affiliation. The event drew participation from educators, government officials, private sector professionals, business leaders, students, and other members of the community. Attendees included Md Jamal Uddin, a teacher at Cumilla Ibne Taimia School & College, and local figures Md Nayan Bhuiyan and Shamsul Huda Jewel, among others.
