Customs officers at Kuwait International Airport intercepted two separate narcotics smuggling attempts on October 3, seizing marijuana, heroin, and hashish from arriving passengers at Terminals 4 and 5.
According to a statement from the General Administration of Customs (GAC), inspectors at Terminal 4 became suspicious of a female traveler arriving from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Upon a thorough search, officials uncovered 564 bags of marijuana weighing a total of 1.763 kilograms. The traveler was identified as a Beninese national employed as a domestic worker.
In a separate incident at Terminal 5, customs officials detained an Indian passenger found in possession of seven sachets containing a powder suspected to be heroin. The seized powder weighed approximately two grams. In addition, a piece of hashish weighing eight grams was recovered from the individual.
The GAC confirmed that both cases followed established legal procedures. Reports on the seizures and the detained travelers were forwarded to the Drug Control General Department for further investigation and action.
