The Dallas Wings overcame a challenging start and a 17-point deficit to secure a 93-92 victory over the Chicago Sky on Saturday night at College Park Center. The Wings’ comeback was fueled by a 36-point fourth quarter—the highest scoring period for Dallas since 2024—and marked their first lead of the game, improving their season record to 10-6.

Center Li Yueru played a pivotal role in the Wings’ late surge, sinking two crucial free throws in the final moments to clinch the win. Yueru stepped up following the exit of veteran forward Alanna Smith due to injury and the foul-out of starter Awak Kuier. “My heart [was] jumping really fast,” Yueru said after the game. “I tried to win for our team, and I appreciate my teammates trusting me.”

Jessica Shepard led Dallas with 21 points on 7-of-14 shooting, along with eight rebounds, while Paige Bueckers contributed 19 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds despite a relatively cold shooting night. Bueckers connected on just one of five three-point attempts, but her timely three-pointer with 31 seconds remaining, followed by a made free throw, brought Dallas within one point. “Some nights it’s not your night shooting the ball,” Bueckers said. “But until the buzzer sounds, things can always change. And that’s kind of what we did as a team.”

The Sky’s Kamilla Cardoso led all scorers with 26 points but committed a costly backcourt violation late in the game before fouling out on the possession that gave Yueru the chance to seal the win.

Dallas struggled during much of the contest, committing double-digit turnovers and contending with foul trouble, which hampered their defensive efforts. The Wings fell behind 16-6 early and after the first quarter trailed by 12 points. However, Dallas rallied in the second quarter, outscoring Chicago 22-15 to reduce the deficit to five at halftime.

Wings coach Jose Fernandez acknowledged the slow start, stating, “I thought that first half wasn’t us. It just seemed like we could never get ourselves going.” Chicago extended its lead to 14 points entering the fourth quarter, but Dallas steadily chipped away at the advantage. A three-pointer from Azzi Fudd with under six minutes left brought the Wings within four points, and subsequent scoring runs, including multiple layups from Bueckers, tied and ultimately overtook the Sky.

Fernandez noted the lessons learned from the hard-fought win, saying, “Today, you learn a lot from a win like this, on the fight and battling back. But [we didn’t put] ourselves in a position to do what we needed to do. Everything went our way, as well.”

The victory allowed Dallas to match its total wins from the entire 2025 season, a significant step forward after an 11-point loss to the Golden State Valkyries last week. Chicago, now 4-11 on the season, was unable to hold on despite Cardoso’s standout performance.
