Qatar’s General Retirement and Social Insurance Authority (Damaan) reported a growth in the value of its managed investment assets to QR133.5 billion in 2025, up from approximately QR129 billion in 2024, representing an annual increase of 3.4%. The rise reflects the authority’s ongoing efforts to enhance the financial sustainability of the country’s pension and social insurance funds, according to Qatar’s Internal Achievements Book 2025–2026.

Damaan attributed the increase to the implementation of strategic priorities aimed at strengthening the financial capacity of pension funds and improving investment management. These efforts are part of a broader initiative to diversify investment portfolios and expand long-term opportunities, ensuring Damaan can meet its obligations to retirees and insured members.

Central to its strategy, Damaan established a dedicated, diversified investment portfolio managed in cooperation with prominent global asset managers. This partnership is designed to leverage international investment expertise, increase portfolio diversification, and grant access to a wider array of investment options.

In addition to investment growth, the authority has pursued enhancements in corporate governance, insurance, and social service initiatives, while focusing on improving beneficiary experiences. Policies and programs have been developed to protect the rights of retirees, insured individuals, and their eligible dependents, alongside measures to increase service quality and operational efficiency.

In 2025, Damaan expanded financial support for pensioners through the activation of its retiree advance program, which provided advances worth around QR600 million to 3,383 retirees. This program offers direct financial assistance aimed at improving beneficiaries’ access to funds and addressing their immediate financial needs.

The authority also implemented a new payment mechanism for benefits tied to service periods exceeding 30 years. This initiative extends entitlements to retirees or their eligible beneficiaries, acknowledging longer service durations and enhancing pension rights as part of broader efforts to bolster insurance benefits.

Within its comprehensive social protection mandate, Damaan combines prudent pension fund management with developing benefits and services to support the financial and social stability of its beneficiaries. To further this goal, the authority introduced financial and investment education programs tailored for retirees. These programs employ workshops, educational materials, and various communication channels to increase beneficiaries’ understanding of investment fundamentals, savings management, and financial decision-making.

Parallel to these developments, Damaan is advancing new pension and retirement systems and enhancing its digital infrastructure. Improvements to its electronic portal and expanded digital services are aimed at facilitating easier access to insurance and retirement services for pensioners and insured members across Qatar.
