Indonesia’s state asset fund Danantara is reportedly planning to establish a physical office in Hong Kong to support its investment activities in the region, according to a recent report. The fund has already registered holding and finance subsidiaries in Hong Kong, with incorporation records showing the creation of Danantara Investment Holding Hong Kong on March 23.

Sources familiar with the situation told Bloomberg that Danantara is in the process of recruiting investment professionals for its Hong Kong branch, although the fund has yet to finalize a specific location for its office. The report indicates that the fund aims to expand its presence in the Greater China market through this new establishment.

Danantara has not publicly commented on the development, and representatives were not immediately available to confirm the details. The report further identified Hong Kong-based executive Sisi Liu as leading Danantara’s investment efforts across Greater China and North Asia. Liu’s profile suggests a focus on sectors such as artificial intelligence, robotics, and advanced manufacturing.

Efforts to independently verify the report’s accuracy remain inconclusive, as the fund has maintained a low profile regarding this planned expansion. The move would mark a significant step for Danantara as it seeks to deepen its investment footprint in key Asian markets through a strategic presence in Hong Kong, a major regional financial hub.
