Former England rugby international Danny Cipriani and his fiancée, American actress AnnaLynne McCord, have invited wedding guests to contribute financially to their upcoming ceremony in Los Angeles. The couple, who are scheduled to marry on August 22, 2026, have set up a gifting website asking guests to pay varying amounts toward different wedding expenses.
Cipriani, 38, who earned an estimated £4 million during his rugby career, and McCord, 39, are requesting contributions ranging from £75 ($100) to £450 ($600). The lower amount is intended to cover the marriage license, while the higher figure would go toward items such as flowers and the wedding cake. The total estimated cost of the wedding itself is reportedly £10,660 ($14,200), excluding these guest contributions.
The online registry offers various options for donations, including six remaining slots for photography services priced at £225 ($300) each. Guests who prefer not to purchase specific gifts may also give cash donations starting at £7.50 ($10).
Cipriani’s rugby tenure spanned from 2006 until his retirement in 2024, during which he played for clubs including Wasps and Bath, and earned 16 caps for the England national team. McCord is known for her roles portraying complex characters, notably in the television series "90210." The couple announced their engagement in December 2025.
This request for financial contributions has drawn criticism from some observers. A Hollywood insider described the appeal as “extremely tacky and distasteful," especially given the couple’s high-profile status and reportedly affluent lifestyle, which includes a substantial engagement ring and frequent vacations. The insider suggested that Cipriani and McCord might have also secured exclusive media arrangements or donations to offset wedding costs and characterized the move as reflective of entitled celebrity behavior.
Cipriani’s personal life has previously attracted media attention. He married neuroscience practitioner Victoria Rose in 2021 but separated two years later amid claims from Rose that the relationship was tumultuous and left her in financial difficulty. Cipriani has also been linked publicly to television presenter Caroline Flack and model Kelly Brook in the past.
