Americana Kuwait hosted a specialized legal workshop on June 15, delivered by Dar Al Muhama’s legal team, aimed at enhancing understanding of the rights and responsibilities of employees and employers under Kuwaiti labor law. The session was conducted at Americana’s headquarters in Kuwait City and focused on promoting legal compliance and fostering stable employment practices within the company.
The workshop was led by Dar Al Muhama Founding Partner Abdulrahman Al-Houti, with key contributions from Senior Attorney Mariam Al-Failakawi, Office Manager and Senior Legal Consultant Ahmed Mousa, and Administrative Director Osama Abdullah. Americana Kuwait General Manager Tarun, along with several human resources and operational department representatives, attended the event.
During the workshop, Al-Failakawi addressed the legal procedures related to internal investigations and disciplinary actions, stressing the necessity of due process to ensure the fairness and legitimacy of employment decisions. She highlighted that thorough comprehension of the mutual obligations between employers and employees is essential for protecting both parties and achieving workplace stability as mandated by Kuwaiti labor regulations.
Mousa discussed common challenges faced by human resources teams in applying labor laws, advocating for the adoption of professional best practices that balance effective management with strict adherence to legal requirements. He emphasized that improved legal awareness among operational leadership can enhance institutional decision-making and mitigate risks related to labor disputes.
Abdullah described the workshop as part of Dar Al Muhama’s broader strategy to support Kuwait’s private sector by sharing practical legal knowledge and fostering a culture of institutional compliance. He noted that adapting to the country’s evolving regulatory landscape necessitates continuous legal education and that compliance is crucial for cultivating institutional trust and attracting sustained investment in the business environment.
Participants agreed that raising legal awareness within organizations is vital for business sustainability and strengthening corporate governance, especially in the context of rapid regulatory changes in Kuwait.
Dar Al Muhama’s involvement in such initiatives underscores its commitment to providing tailored legal expertise that helps companies navigate the local regulatory framework, manage legal risks, and meet the growing expectations of the business and investment community in Kuwait.
